Hi there - welcome to my blog! My name is Michelle and I'm a 23 year old chick who loves a good bargain. Academically, my background is in psychology, sociology, and criminology and I (oddly enough!) am currently working in the banking industry. In addition to these things I've always had an interest in design, writing, fashion... and what's on the sale racks. That's sorta where this blog comes in -- it provides a nice little outlet for my creative side that's all too often busy with the DSM-IV and ATMS and all the other shenanigans I get into.
More personally, I'm just a girl from Kentucky who loves manatees and having a good laugh. I'm a pop culture sponge who enjoys the Internet, but I also love and appreciate nature and all its simplicities. My hobbies include cuddling kittens, making ridiculously large batches of lemonade, and smashing your preconceived notions of what it means to be fat and/or on a budget and/or a bitch. Also, I don't know how to write an "About Me" without sounding like a huge asshole.
More realistically, I spend a lot of time alone, with my boyfriend, with my friends, with my family, and with other people who don't fit into any of those categories.. Lately, I've been spending more and more time swimming (or, more accurately, not drowning, as I'm sure I'm not "properly" stroking about).
My personal style aesthetic is usually a cross between sexy grandma and preschool kitsch. I identify as both a fat activist and body acceptance advocate and am a firm believer in the Health at Every Size movement. I believe that every person, no matter their shape or their size, has value and the right to feel good about themselves. I'm also a feminist and a self-proclaimed lefty loosey.
